2015 was an hard and challenging year for me. After completing my last contract with the ballet company of La Scala, I have been able to launch my site’s store.
I only sell what I, myself would wear as a ballerina, which is where my brand began. I’ve always had trouble finding a skirt that I liked. Too long, too wavy, too voluminous and not slimming. In my dance wardrobe, I had given up nearly all skirts that I bought during my years of dancing.
I started to make various cuts of skirts according to my personal needs, and thanks to many professional colleagues that I met along my journey, I realized that every dancer has his needs. So every single critic I received helped me to create a series of models in which I hope you can find the perfect ballet skirt for you!
To this day, I source every style of fabric, produce every single product myself (I have a very good italian sewer that help me just with leotards) and have constructed this site myself as well, not only because I am a perfectionist, but because I want to ensure the level of quality and attention to detail is there in every piece you buy.
As a ballet dancer, I am always searching within myself to be better, to push harder, to find a cleaner line and achieve my potential. That is also how I approach my label, with a constant thirst and desire to better myself, find the perfect fabrics, cuts and colors.
While ballet is my first love and passion, beginning this label has made me a better dancer. Sewing has made me a better dancer because I think more about preventing mistakes: in ballet, sometimes you make a mistake and you don't even notice why or where you did wrong and you continue to dance. In designing and making my ballet skirts or leotards, a mistake in sewing means I must spend my time (one hour) unstitching that mistake.
Why you don’t find my leotards?
I am currently laboring to source the fabric and elastic qualities I would like to achieve in my leotards.
As a ballerina, I understand first hand the importance of fit and comfort in a leotard, and so whilst I am keen to tailor my leotards to your individual body types and measurements , specifications when ordering is not a function on my site, so please contact me at info@rynadancewear.com and I will reply with prices, sizes, styles and options for your selection.
I will create a page with few images of some dancers wearing their ryna leotards.
The end of this year is so full of so many exciting opportunities both in dance and creatively and I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
As we say in Italy, un bacio!
